Restore Chats

Restoration usually happens on first launch after verification.

During setup

1. Verify your phone number.
2. When prompted, choose Restore from backup.
3. Pick the latest backup file you trust.
4. Wait for media to download on Wi‑Fi if needed.

If restore fails

Confirm the backup came from a compatible version. See update failed help before deleting the app.

Restore timing

Restoration usually runs once after SMS verification. Interrupting the process can corrupt media downloads—keep the phone on power and Wi‑Fi until counts match expectations.

Partial restore symptoms

Missing groups often mean the backup predates membership changes. Missing media may still download if you tap into chats and wait on Wi‑Fi.
