Update Without Losing Chats

Most chat loss happens when users uninstall too quickly. Follow order: backup → install over → verify.

Safe update order

1. Create a fresh backup via backup steps.
2. Download the new APK from download.
3. Install over the existing app when Android offers Update.
4. Open chats and spot-check recent threads and media.

When “Update” is not offered

Android shows Update only when package signatures match. A different publisher APK may force a clean install—never uninstall until backups are verified on storage or another device.

Rollback planning

Keep the previous APK file if the new build crashes on your phone. Install the older file over the new one only when signatures allow; otherwise restore from backup after reinstall.
